History
The first records of the use of cocoa date from around 1500 BC, when it was first used by the Olmecs.
The name chocolate comes from its Aztec name "xocolatl".
According to Mayan tradition, the cocoa plant was of divine origin, was considered an intoxicating food and was originally withheld from an elite group of Aztecs in Mexico.
